It’s estimated that natural gas production in Pennsylvania and West Virginia averages almost four billion cubic feet per day. That’s over five times more than the average from 2004 through 2008. These states alone provide over 85% of the total northeastern natural gas.
However, there is a vast amount of undiscovered natural gas hidden in Marcellus Shale located in the base of the Appalachians. Marcellus Shale contains around 84 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas and possibly 3.4 billion barrels of recoverable natural gas liquid.
If the Marcellus Shale job location is drilled it will create hundreds of jobs as well as lessen our dependency on foreign product. In Pennsylvania shale gas brought 1 billion in profit to the state government.
